Jamie Redknapp raves about Chelsea FC star: He’ll go down as a great
The Liverpool FC legend believes Chelsea FC star Cesc Fabregas will go down as one of the Premier League's greatest midfielders
Jamie Redknapp believes Cesc Fabregas is one of the Premier League’s greatest midfielders after the Chelsea FC star scored in a 1-0 win against Swansea City on Sunday evening.
The Spanish midfielder scored the winner to take his tally to 50 goals and 100 assists in the Premier League to become the fourth player to hit those milestones.
Fabregas is part of an elite club that contains Manchester United legends Wayne Rooney and Ryan Giggs as well as Chelsea FC’s record-goalscorer Frank Lampard.
The 31-year-old has won two Premier League titles, the FA Cup and the League Cup during his spells at Arsenal and Chelsea FC.
Fabregas has scored two goals and has made four assists in 30 appearances in the Premier League this term.
Former Liverpool FC captain Redkapp talked up Fabregas as one of the Premier League’s greatest-ever midfielders following his heroics against relegation candidates Swansea City.
“It was great to see Cesc Fabregas bring up his 50th Premier League goal as he struck the winner for Chelsea against Swansea,” Fabregas told the Daily Mail.
“As our table shows, he joins an elite bracket of players to reach 50 goals and 100 assists in the competition. When he retires, he will surely go down as one of the Premier League era’s greatest midfielders.
“Fabregas is a player’s player. From Emmanuel Adebayor at Arsenal to Chelsea’s Diego Costa, almost every forward he has played with has benefited from his service. Some of the passes he laid on for Costa when Chelsea won the title last season were out of this world. He has lit up our league.”
Fabregas moved to Chelsea FC from FC Barcelona in a £29m deal in the 2014 summer transfer window.
The Blues midfielder captained Arsenal until his move to his boyhood club FC Barcelona in a £35m deal in 2011.
Chelsea FC will take on Arsenal in the FA Cup final at Wembley later this month.
