Pat Nevin rules out Chelsea FC replacing Antonio Conte with 48-year-old
The Chelsea FC legend doesn't believe Diego Simeone will become the next Blues manager
Pat Nevin has emphatically ruled out Chelsea FC appointing Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone.
The Blues are facing an uncertain future with Antonio Conte at the helm after a difficult season for both the club and the manager.
Chelsea FC lost 3-0 to Newcastle United at St James’ Park in their final Premier League game of the 2017-18 season.
The Blues finished in fifth place in the Premier League table to miss out on a Champions League spot for the second time in three campaigns.
The west London side did end the 2017-18 campaign with some silverware after Chelsea FC beat Manchester United in the FA Cup final.
Chelsea FC eased to a 1-0 win thanks to Eden Hazard’s first-half penalty after Phil Jones brought down the Belgian forward in the penalty area.
Conte has battled with the board over control of their transfers, regularly hitting out at the Blues hierarchy in the media.
Simeone has been linked with both Arsenal and Chelsea FC given his no nonsense approach to football management.
Former Blues winger Nevin doesn’t believe Simeone will be the manager to replace Conte should the Italian leave.
“You’ll talk about the Atletico manager,” Nevin told BBC Radio 5 Live. “He has done really well.
“You’re talking about personality and expectation of control. That’s an absolute no-no.“
