Jamie Redknapp tips 31-year-old to start Chelsea FC v Man United in FA Cup final
The Liverpool FC legend expects Olivier Giroud to start for Chelsea FC against Man United in the FA Cup final
Jamie Redknapp believes Olivier Giroud has put himself in the frame to start Chelsea FC’s clash against Manchester United in the FA Cup final.
The Blues are fifth place in the Premier League table and trail both Liverpool FC and Tottenham Hotspur in the race to secure a Champions League spot.
Antonio Conte’s men were 1-0 winners against Liverpool FC at Stamford Bridge last weekend thanks to Giroud’s first-half winner.
Giroud has scored three times in five starts and six substitute appearances in the Premier League in the current campaign.
The Blues forward will be hoping to secure a spot in Conte’s starting XI for Chelsea FC’s meeting with Manchester United in the FA Cup final.
Giroud has won the competition in three of the past four seasons with Arsenal before his January move to Chelsea FC.
Former Liverpool FC midfielder Redknapp believes Giroud is making a strong claim for a starting spot in the FA Cup showpiece.
“He played well,” Redknapp told Sky Sports.
“He got the winner. He is looking to get a cup final place. He is a brilliant header of the ball.”
Chelsea FC won the Premier League title with two games to spare last season after finishing seven points ahead of Tottenham Hotspur in the title race.
The Blues signed Ross Barkley, Emerson Palmieri and Giroud in the January transfer window.
