Ian Wright has questioned why Chelsea FC didn’t get Tammy Abraham a chance to impress this season.

The Blues signed Spain international Alvaro Morata in a £60m deal from La Liga giants Real Madrid in the 2017 summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old has netted 13 times in 31 games in the Premier League, while the Spanish forward scored once in the Champions League.

Abraham netted 23 times in 41 games in the Championship during a season-long loan spell at Championship side Bristol City.

However, the Blues opted to send Abraham on loan to Welsh outfit Swansea City for the duration of the 2017-18 season.

The England Under-21 international has struggled with injuries, while Chelsea FC invested £21m in Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud.

Former Arsenal striker Wright believes Chelsea FC should have given Abraham a chance to in the Blues team this term.

“Look at Morata. He started pretty well but it hasn’t turned out very well for him,” Wright told Sky Sports.

“Tammy went to Swansea and got injured. Tammy deserved a go in it. He went to Bristol and proved he can score.”

Chelsea FC have won the Premier League title in two of the past three seasons under Jose Mourinho and Conte.

The Blues will take on Premier League rivals Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley later this month.
