The Blues signed the France international in a £40m deal from AS Monaco in the summer transfer window.
The defensive midfielder was a key part of AS Monaco’s title-winning season last term and he helped the French side reach their first Champions League semi-final since 2004.
However, Bakayoko has struggled to adapt to the Premier League despite his physical style of play.
Nemanja Matic’s controversial switch to Manchester United only served to further emphasize Bakayoko’s deficiencies.
The France international produced a particularly horrific performance in Chelsea FC’s 4-1 loss to Watford in the Premier League at Vicarage Road earlier this season.
Bakayoko was sent off inside 30 minutes in the London derby to prompt criticism of the France star.
Former Spurs midfielder Murphy admitted that Bakayoko has been a huge disappointment this season.
“Tiemoue Bakayoko looked a fine player for Monaco in the Champions League last season, yet it seems he has struggled to handle the pressure of a £40million move,” Murphy told the London Evening Standard.
“Yes, he had an injury at the start but he has struggled to make an impact when he has played.
Chelsea FC are in fifth place in the Premier League table and two points behind Liverpool FC in the race to secure a Champions League spot next term.
The Blues will take on Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley later this month after losing 2-1 to Arsenal last term.
