The Reds missed out on the chance to secure a spot in the Champions League next term after Liverpool FC lost 1-0 to Chelsea FC last weekend.
The Merseyside outfit remain three points ahead of Chelsea FC but Antonio Conte’s men can move level on points with Liverpool FC if the west London outfit win their game in hand.
The Blues will host Huddersfield Town at Stamford Bridge mid-week after the Terriers held Premier League champions Manchester City to a goalless draw at the Etihad Stadium.
Chelsea FC are looking to finish in the top four in successive seasons to ensure their continued participation in the Premier League after winning the title last term.
Liverpool FC will welcome Brighton and Hove Albion in their final Premier League game of the season at Anfield on Sunday, while Chelsea FC will make the trip to Newcastle.
Former Reds defender Lawrenson is confident that Liverpool FC will still finish in the top four ahead of Chelsea FC despite their setback at Stamford Bridge last weekend.
“I don’t think Chelsea will make the top four, though, even if they win both their remaining games,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport.
“It is too little, too late because Liverpool and Spurs will get over the line somehow.”
Liverpool FC will face Real Madrid in the Champions League final later this month.
