Charlie Nicholas is backing Chelsea FC to edge to a narrow victory over Liverpool FC at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.

The Reds are in third place in the Premier League table and six points ahead of Chelsea FC ahead of their meeting in west London.

Liverpool FC have played one game more than Antonio Conte’s men to give Chelsea FC a slim chance of securing a top-four finish.

The Merseyside outfit have only managed to win one of their last four games following stalemates with Everton, West Brom and Stoke City.

Chelsea FC have won their last three Premier League games to make a late push for a top-four finish.

Former Arsenal midfielder Nicholas is backing Chelsea FC to secure a 2-1 win against Champions League finalists Liverpool FC at Stamford Bridge on Sunday evening.

“Liverpool looked on their knees on Wednesday night and they will have to make changes because that team will be exhausted,” Nicholas told Sky Sports.

“It also looks like Antonio Conte’s final home game, which he’ll want to win, and these players are playing for their FA Cup final places.

“He’s got Cesc Fabregas working better, higher up the pitch and linking up better with the striker and Eden Hazard and Olivier Giroud, who is proving his doubters wrong again.”

Liverpool FC have won on their last two visits to Stamford Bridge thanks to a 3-1 win 2015 before a 2-1 victory in 2016.

The Reds will take on Real Madrid in the Champions League final following a dramatic 7-6 aggregate win against Serie A giants AS Roma.

Liverpool FC are looking to win the Champions League title for the first time since 2005 when the Reds beat AC Milan on penalties.
