Jamie Redknapp has poured cold water on talk of Chelsea FC finishing above Liverpool FC this season.

The Reds lost 1-0 to the west London side at Stamford Bridge last weekend after Olivier Giroud netted a first-half winner.

Liverpool FC are in pole position to finish in the top four ahead of Chelsea FC given their superior goal difference.

However, Jurgen Klopp’s side can ill-afford to drop points against Brighton and Hove Albion in their final game of the season.

Chelsea FC will make the trip to Newcastle United at St James’ Park following a 1-1 draw with Huddersfield Town mid-week that left the Blues two points behind the Reds.

Former Liverpool FC star Redknapp believes Chelsea FC will ultimately miss out on a Champions League qualification spot.

“It is going to be a big ask to get in the top four,” Redknapp told Sky Sports.

“Liverpool and Spurs have pretty good fixtures. You’d expect them to get over the line.”

Chelsea FC are in the FA Cup final at Wembley where the Blues will face Manchester United at the home of English football.

The Blues have won the Premier League title in two of the past three seasons under Jose Mourinho and then Antonio Conte.
