Paul Scholes reacts to Eden Hazard’s display in Chelsea FC’s 1-0 win over Man United
Paul Scholes was impressed by Eden Hazard's display as Chelsea FC beat Man United 1-0 in the FA Cup final
Paul Scholes paid tribute to Eden Hazard for a quality display as he helped to inspire Chelsea FC to a 1-0 FA Cup final victory over Manchester United.
Hazard has been in solid form for the Blues all season and he was deployed up front along with Olivier Giroud at Wembley.
The 27-year-old gave Chelsea FC the lead from the penalty spot in the first half when he coolly slotted past David De Gea after he was brought down by Phil Jones in the box.
Hazard was able to dart away from Jones and race towards goal before the Manchester United defender clumsily brought the Belgian down in the box.
The Chelsea FC playmaker then stepped up to slot home a solid finish to hand the Blues the lead at Wembley.
And former Manchester United midfielder Scholes was very impressed by Hazard’s play in the lead-up to the spot-kick being awarded.
Speaking during BT Sport’s coverage of the game, Scholes said: “It’s all about Hazard’s first touch.
“It’s a great touch, the moment he touches the ball like that, Phil Jones is in trouble and that second touch away from Jones absolutely kills him – and that’s why the penalty was given away.”
Hazard is widely regarded as one of European football’s top attacking talents and his future could be a source of speculation this summer.
Chelsea FC have failed to qualify for the Champions League next season and the Belgian playmaker has long been linked with a move to Real Madrid.
