Michael Owen sends warning to Man United about Chelsea FC star with proven record
The Liverpool FC legend talks up Olivier Giroud ahead of the FA Cup final at Wembley on Saturday afternoon
Michael Owen has singled out Chelsea FC striker Olivier Giroud as a potential danger man for Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley on Saturday.
The France international moved to Chelsea FC in a £21m deal from Arsenal in the January transfer window to bolster Antonio Conte’s attacking options.
Giroud has provided the Blues with another threat up front to provide cover and competition for Spain international Alvaro Morata.
The 31-year-old has scored three goals in six starts and seven substitute appearances in the Premier League since his move to Chelsea FC from Arsenal.
The Frenchman scored the opening goal in Chelsea FC’s 2-0 win over Southampton in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley before Morata came off the bench to seal their place in the final.
Giroud was part of the Arsenal squad that won the FA Cup three times in the past five seasons at the north London side.
Former Liverpool FC striker Owen is backing Giroud to be a danger man for Chelsea FC against Manchester United in the FA Cup showpiece on Saturday evening.
“Olivier Giroud looks likely to get the nod ahead of Alvaro Morata up front and the Frenchman has either scored or assisted in each of his three FA Cup Final appearances,” Owen told BetVictor.
Chelsea FC finished in fifth place in the Premier League table to miss out on a top-four place for the second time in three seasons.
