Frank Lampard salutes Eden Hazard after Chelsea FC beat Man United to win FA Cup
Frank Lampard pays tribute to Eden Hazard after Chelsea FC's 1-0 win over Man United in the FA Cup final
Frank Lampard paid tribute to the “brilliant” Eden Hazard after the Belgian fired Chelsea FC to a 1-0 win over Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley.
Both teams headed into the game looking to claim the victory and lift a trophy in their final outing of the season.
Hazard was in fine form throughout at Wembley and the 27-year-old handed the west London side the lead from the penalty spot in the first half.
The Belgium international expertly latched onto Cesc Fabregas’ pass and burst through on goal, before Phil Jones clumsily brought him down in the box.
Hazard then stepped up himself to take the resulting penalty and coolly slotted the ball past David De Gea to put Chelsea FC 1-0 up at the national stadium.
And Lampard, who played alongside Hazard for Chelsea FC, was hugely impressed by the way the Belgian confidently dispatched his penalty.
Speaking during BT Sport‘s coverage of the game, Lampard said: “He was brilliant.
“That’s the man you want [taking a penalty]. You’re up against the best goalkeeper in the world probably.
“He takes his time, lets him dive and rolls it the other way. It’s absolute perfection. He was cool as a cucumber.”
The FA Cup victory for Chelsea FC allowed the west London side to end what has been a disappointing season on a high.
The Blues ended up in fifth place in the Premier League table this season as they missed out on Champions League qualification for next term.
