Edwin van der Sar sends challenge to Paul Pogba ahead of Chelsea FC v Man United
The Man United legend wants to see a big performance from Paul Pogba in the FA Cup final
Edwin van der Sar has challenged Paul Pogba to fire Manchester United to FA Cup glory over Chelsea FC at Wembley on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Devils will take on their bitter rivals Chelsea FC in the final game of the domestic campaign with both clubs looking to secure some silverware.
Pogba made an impressive start to the 2017-18 season with two goals and two assists in four games in the Premier League in the opening weeks of the campaign.
However, the France star suffered a hamstring problem in September that kept the club record signing sidelined for two months before his return against Newcastle United in November.
Pogba struggled rekindle his early season form to prompt criticism from his manager Jose Mourinho for his ill discipline in the middle of the park alongside Nemanja Matic.
However, the 25-year-old inspired a dramatic derby comeback with two goals in 3-2 victory over Manchester City to make their rivals wait another week to get their hands on the Premier League trophy.
Former Manchester United goalkeeper Van der Sar is optimistic that Pogba can prove inspirational in the FA Cup final against Chelsea FC this weekend.
“Let’s hope to see the key man is Paul Pogba and he has a good game,” Van der Sar told Man United’s website.
“He is a lad that almost has a Mancunian accent and really loves the club and the city. Let’s hope he gets the goals in the final.”
Manchester United re-signed Pogba in an £89m deal from Juventus in 2016.
