Michael Owen is backing Manchester United to beat Chelsea FC in extra-time in the FA Cup final at Wembley on Saturday evening.

The Red Devils are looking to win their major trophy in three seasons under Jose Mourinho following his appointment in May 2016.

Manchester United got their hands on the Europa League and the League Cup last season but finished in sixth spot in the Premier League table.

The 20-time English champions have made a marked improvement this season after ending up as runners up behind champions Manchester City.

Chelsea FC, on the other hand, finished in sixth place in the Premier League table to miss out on a top-four spot for the second time in three seasons.

The Blues are looking to win their second trophy in successive seasons under Antonio Conte after Chelsea FC won the Premier League title last term.

Former Liverpool FC striker Owen is tipping Manchester United to come out on top in extra time against Chelsea FC in the FA Cup showpiece.

“Both sides won silverware last season but one of these great clubs will leave Wembley at the end of a barren campaign and I just feel it will be Antonio Valencia who is lifting the trophy – although I feel the game will go to extra-time and possibly even penalties before we can spilt the teams,” Owen told BetVictor.

Manchester United haven’t won the Premier League title since 2013 when Sir Alex Ferguson was still in charge at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils got their hands on the FA Cup in 2016 thanks to a 2-1 extra-time win over Crystal Palace.
