Olivier Giroud sends ‘special’ warning to Man United ahead of Chelsea FC clash
The Chelsea FC striker vows to continue to attempt special goals ahead of the FA Cup final against Manchester United at Wembley
Olivier Giroud is adamant that he will always try to score special goals ahead of Chelsea FC’s clash against Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley this weekend.
The Blues will take on the Red Devils in the FA Cup showpiece looking to end the season with some silverware despite a difficult campaign for Antonio Conte’s men.
Chelsea FC were 2-0 winners against Southampton in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley last month thanks to Giroud’s brilliant goal.
The France international has scored six goals and has made three assists in all competitions since his move to Chelsea FC from Arsenal in the January transfer window.
Giroud won the Premier League goal of the season last term after the France star netted a super scissor kick while still an Arsenal player.
The 31-year-old will be hoping to earn a starting spot in Antonio Conte’s team for the FA Cup final at Wembley.
Speaking to Chelsea FC’s website about his ability to score special goals, Giroud said:
“I just try to do the best technique to finish the move.
“It depends where the ball is coming from and how I can hit the target. You have to find good balance, a good technique and good timing as well, but everything was there for my FA Cup goal at Wembley.
“It was even more enjoyable because it was in my “garden”! I live in north London, not far from there. A striker needs to be ready to do something special at any time, so that’s what I try to do.”
Chelsea FC finished in fifth place in the Premier League table and five points adrift of Liverpool FC in the race to secure a Champions League spot.
The Blues have won the Premier League title in two of the past four seasons.
