The Belgium international has emerged as a potential target for a number of the Premier League’s top European clubs in the current campaign.
Nainggolan has established himself as one of Serie A’s top midfielders during his five seasons at the Stadio Olimpico.
The 29-year-old has scored four goals and has made nine assists in 33 appearances in Serie A in the current campaign.
The Belgian midfielder has been regularly linked with a move to Chelsea FC since Antonio Conte took over the reins at Stamford Bridge in 2016.
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is in the market to sign a central midfielder to replace Michael Carrick, who is set to retire at the end of the campaign.
Speaking at AS Roma’s press conference ahead of the second leg of their Champions League semi-final at the Stadio Olimpico, Nainggolan said:
“I didn’t stay here because I knew we’d get to the Champions League semi-final, but because I feel that winning here would be unforgettable.
“That’s the way I am – I always prefer to go for the tougher route. I’ll be here for years to come. I don’t like the idea of leaving a place where I’m happy – that’s just the way I am.”
Nainggolan has scored 31 times in 198 games in all competitions for AS Roma, although the Belgian star is still waiting to win his first piece of silverware at the Rome outfit.
Manchester United could lose Belgian midfielder Marouane Fellaini in the summer given the towering midfielder still hasn’t signed a new deal.
