Michael Owen is backing Antonio Conte to leave Willian on the bench for the FA Cup final amid speculation linking the Chelsea FC star with a move to Manchester United.

The Brazil international has struggled to hold down a regular starting spot in the Chelsea FC team since Antonio Conte’s appointment back in 2016.

Willian helped the Blues to win the Premier League crown in the 2016-17 season, while the attacking midfielder has been a rare positive for the west London outfit this term.

The 29-year-old has been linked with a potential reunion with Jose Mourinho at Manchester United after the Portuguese head coach brought in Willian in 2013.

The South American won the Premier League title and the League Cup under Mourinho before the 55-year-old was axed in December 2015.

Former Liverpool FC striker Owen believes the Blues will leave Willian on the bench for the FA Cup final given the uncertainty surrounding the Brazil international’s future.

“Chelsea look as if they will again leave Willian on the bench with speculation mounting that he might re-join Mourinho at Old Trafford this summer,” Owen told BetVictor.

Willian has scored nine goals and has made six assists in 44 appearances in all competitions in the current campaign to enjoy a prolific season at Stamford Bridge.

The South American forward has won two Premier League titles and the League Cup since his move to Chelsea FC from Anzhi Makhachkala in 2013.
