Antonio Conte has hinted that Chelsea FC are getting ready for a busy summer transfer window after a largely disappointing campaign.

The Blues suffered a damaging blow to their hopes of snatching a top-four finish this season when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Huddersfield Town at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.

Chelsea FC are currently in fifth place in the Premier League table and are relying on Liverpool FC to lose to Brighton at the weekend as their last remaining hope of securing Champions League qualification.

It has been a largely disappointing second campaign in charge for Conte at Stamford Bridge, with the Blues having struggled to produce consistent performances in the top flight in the second half of the season.

Chelsea FC still do have a chance of winning the FA Cup this season when they take on Manchester United in the final at the end of the month.

But Conte has hinted that the club will need to make a number of signings this summer as they look to strengthen their squad for next season.

Speaking at his post-match news conference on Wednesday night, Conte said: “Now we have to focus on finishing this season.

“We have another league game to play, then an FA Cup final, then the club will do the best to improve the situation.”

Chelsea FC won the title in style in Conte’s first campaign last season – but they did not have the distraction of any European football.
