Gary Cahill admits that he and his Chelsea FC team-mates are not getting distracted by Antonio Conte's future
Gary Cahill has admitted that he and his Chelsea FC team-mates are not getting distracted by Antonio Conte’s future at the club.
The Italian manager led Chelsea FC to a second major trophy on Saturday as the Blues claimed a 1-0 win over Manchester United in the FA Cup final to end the campaign on a positive note.
Conte has found his situation to be a constant source of speculation in recent months, with Chelsea FC having struggled to find consistent form in the Premier League this season.
The Blues ended up in fifth place in the table as they missed out on Champions League qualification for next season.
It seems that Conte’s future will be resolved in the coming days as Chelsea FC decide whether to part company with the Italian manager or not.
And Blues defender Cahill has suggested that he and his team-mates are not getting distracted by the situation as they look to regroup ahead of next season, regardless of who is in charge.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Cahill said: “Us, as players, we don’t have any impact on that situation.
“I’m sure, if I was a guessing man, they obviously will have spoken, between the club and the manager. And let’s see.
“I’m sure the manager will make the best decision for himself and his family. And I’m sure the club will make the best decision they feel.
“It’s totally out of our hands. All I can say is it’s been a great finish. If the manager stays on next year, he stays on.
“If he doesn’t, he’s gone away with a Premier League and FA Cup. I think that’s something everyone at the club can be proud of.”
Chelsea FC are bound to be linked with a number of players in the coming weeks and months as the west London side look to lift the Premier League trophy once again next season.
