The AS Roma striker was heavily touted as a possible target for the west London club as Antonio Conte looked to bolster his strike-force ahead of the second half of the season.
However, a move failed to materialise as Dzeko ended up staying at AS Roma and Chelsea FC eventually signed Olivier Giroud from local rivals Arsenal in the January transfer window.
There is bound to be plenty of speculation linking Chelsea FC with a number of new signings this summer as they look to try and challenge for the Premier League next season.
It remains to be seen, though, whether former Chelsea FC striker Dzeko will be touted as another target for the west London side.
And the striker has now opened up about his failed move to Stamford Bridge earlier this year following the conclusion of the season.
Dzeko is quoted as saying by the Evening Standard: “Chelsea is a big challenge and I know what kind of a club that is, I’ve been at Man City and I wasn’t ready to move to Chelsea.
“Nobody I spoke to wanted me to move to Chelsea so I decided to stay.
“It has been tough period, a lot of stories and information, true and false, were written, everything went through my head, I wasn’t clear or certain of anything at the time.”
Chelsea FC managed to end the campaign on a high by beating Manchester United in the FA Cup final earlier this month.
However, the Blues will have to make do without Champions League football next season after they ended up fifth in the table.
