N’Golo Kante admits Chelsea FC cannot be happy with their season
N'Golo Kante opens up about Chelsea FC's disappointing second season under Antonio Conte
N’Golo Kante has admitted that he and his Chelsea FC team-mates cannot be satisfied with their season despite ending the campaign with the FA Cup trophy to their name.
The Blues beat Manchester United 1-0 in the FA Cup final at Wembley last weekend as they ended the campaign on a positive note by winning their second piece of silverware under Antonio Conte.
However, the west London side struggled to produce consistent performances in the Premier League this season and they ended up in fifth place as they missed out on Champions League qualification.
It means that the Blues will play in the Europa League next season and it has raised further doubts about Conte’s long-term future at the club.
Kante admits that he was delighted to play his part in helping Chelsea FC to beat Manchester United in the FA Cup final last weekend thanks to Eden Hazard’s first half penalty.
However, the midfielder concedes that the season overall was a big disappointment due to their stuttering form in the Premier League.
Speaking to Chelsea FC’s website, Kante said: “You have to think like a team.
“We cannot be happy about it because we didn’t reach all our targets, but we finished in the best way by winning the FA Cup final. That means a lot. It was a beautiful moment, and a team effort. We suffered together.”
Chelsea FC will look to regroup this summer before mounting a serious title challenge next season, and it remains to be seen whether Conte will stay in charge at Stamford Bridge or not.
