Chelsea FC are weighing up a move to try and sign Anthony Martial this summer if Manchester United cannot convince the striker to stay, according to reports in the British media.

The Daily Telegraph is reporting that the Blues are monitoring the 22-year-old’s situation at Old Trafford with a view to a possible move to bring the striker to Stamford Bridge.

Martial’s future at Old Trafford has been something of a source of speculation in recent weeks following Manchester United’s signing of Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal in the January transfer window.

According to the same story, Chelsea FC owner Roman Abramovich is ready to spend big on bolstering his squad this summer, but funds could be restricted if the Blues fail to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

The story says that Martial is viewed as a potential target for Chelsea FC this summer if Manchester United cannot convince him to stay.

The France international is under contract until the summer of 2019, although Manchester United do have the option to extend his deal by a further year.

The same article says that Martial would likely cost a fee of around £44m, and that he has also attracted interest from the likes of Juventus and Tottenham Hotspur.
