Chelsea FC star Alvaro Morata breaks silence after World Cup snub
Chelsea FC star Alvaro Morata takes to social media to react to being left out of the Spanish World Cup squad
Alvaro Morata has insisted that he will be fully supporting Spain from the sidelines after the Chelsea FC striker was omitted from his national team’s World Cup squad.
The 25-year-old did not make the cut for the squad after having struggled with form and fitness issues at Chelsea FC in the second half of the season.
Morata suffered a back injury mid-way through the campaign and lost his regular starting spot to Olivier Giroud following the striker’s arrival from Arsenal in the January transfer window.
He was left out of the Spain World Cup squad along with fellow Chelsea FC star Marcos Alonso following a disappointing campaign in which the Blues ended up in fifth place in the Premier League table.
However, the striker, who signed for Chelsea FC from Real Madrid last summer, has insisted that he will give his full backing to his team-mates ahead of the World Cup.
Morata wrote on Twitter: “Lots of luck in the World Cup! Since I will be supporting and encouraging to the end as always!”
Morata was a late substitute as Chelsea FC claimed a 1-0 win over Manchester United in the FA Cup final on Saturday as they ended the season on a positive note.
The Blues will have to make do with a place in the Europa League next season after their fifth-placed Premier League finish.
