Chelsea FC urged not to make hasty decision about Alvaro Morata future
ESPN FC pundit Shaka Hislop doesn't want Chelsea FC to make a hasty decision about Alvaro Morata
Shaka Hislop has urged Chelsea FC not to make a hasty decision about Alvaro Morata’s future at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues were linked with a bid to re-sign Belgium international Romelu Lukaku in a deal from Everton in the 2017 summer transfer window.
Chelsea FC lost out to Manchester United after Lukaku opted to reunite with Jose Mourinho in a £75m switch last summer.
The west London side turned their focus to Morata and recruited the Spain international in a club record £60m deal from La Liga giants Real Madrid.
Morata netted nine times in his opening eight games in all competitions but injuries and a loss of form halted his progress at Stamford Bridge.
The 24-year-old finished the season with 11 goals in 31 games in the Premier League this term to fuel speculation surrounding his future.
The Spanish forward has been linked with a return to Serie A champions Juventus this summer after less than 12 months since his move to Chelsea FC.
Former West Ham goalkeeper Hislop believes Morata shouldn’t be sold in the summer, especially given the uncertainty surrounding Antonio Conte’s future.
“There’s a couple of things at play here,” Hislop told ESPN FC.
“We’re still not quite sure who the Chelsea manager will be next season and whether Morata fits into his plans and whether that manager will bring the best out of him.
“At the same time, it’s a bit soon to talk about cutting ties with him.”
Chelsea FC will take on their bitter rivals Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley at the weekend.
