Chelsea FC are preparing to open talks with Nice about the possibility of signing midfielder Jean-Michael Seri this summer, according to reports in France.
French outlet Le10Sport, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that the Blues have been named as one of the main teams in a group of clubs keeping tabs on the 26-year-old midfielder this summer.
The same report says that Chelsea FC are now hoping to beat Arsenal to the signing of Seri this summer, with new boss Unai Emery said to be a keen admirer of the Nice midfielder.
It is claimed that the Blues are poised to begin talks about signing Seri and are convinced that they will be able to complete a deal to bring him to Stamford Bridge early in the summer transfer window.
The Ivory Coast international has long been linked with a move to the Premier League and he has been touted as a possible target for Manchester United.
The same story claims that he came close to joining FC Barcelona last summer but the proposed deal fell through at the final hour.
Chelsea FC are likely to be on the lookout for a number of signings this summer as they look to build a team capable of winning the Premier League title next season.
