Maurizio Sarri wants Chelsea FC to sign 25-year-old Serie A forward – report
Maurizio Sarri wants Chelsea FC to prioritise signing Inter Milan captain Mauro Icardi, according to a report in Italy
Maurizio Sarri wants Chelsea FC to sign Inter Milan forward Mauro Icardi if the Italian head coach replaces Antonio Conte, according to a report in Italy.
Italian media outlet Corriere dello Sport, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that the former Napoli manager is in the running to become the next Chelsea FC manager.
The same article states that Sarri has already informed the west London side about the players he would like to bring to Stamford Bridge in the summer transfer window.
According to the same story, the 47-year-old wants Chelsea FC to prioritise signing Icardi to bolster the Blues’ attacking options ahead of the 2018-19 Premier League campaign.
Icardi is thought to have a contract release clause of £96m but it remains to be seen whether Chelsea FC would be willing to pay more than the club record fee that they on Alvaro Morata last summer.
The South American forward has scored 29 goals in 34 games in Serie A last season to finish at the top of the goal-scoring charts in the Italian top flight.
Icardi was omitted from Argentina’s World Cup squad for Russia 2018 after Gonzalo Higuain, Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero and Paulo Dybala were included ahead of the Inter captain.
