Thierry Henry responds to Olivier Giroud’s display in Chelsea FC’s 1-0 win over Liverpool FC
Thierry Henry salutes Olivier Giroud after Chelsea FC's clash with Liverpool FC in the Premier League on Sunday
Thierry Henry saluted Olivier Giroud after the striker headed Chelsea FC into the lead in their clash with Liverpool FC at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
The France international has been getting used to life at the west London club after having signed for the Blues from Arsenal in the January transfer window.
Giroud has been keeping Alvaro Morata out of the starting line-up at Chelsea FC in recent weeks and he headed the home side into the lead against Liverpool FC on Sunday when he headed home Victor Moses’ cross in the 32nd minute at Stamford Bridge.
And Henry was quick to praise his compatriot for the quality he showed to give his side the lead at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
Speaking during Sky Sports‘ coverage of the game, Henry said: “He does that a lot. He did it at Arsenal before. He positions himself here well, he’s waiting for the ball.
“He knows exactly where he wants it to go and directs it onto the other side.
“What a finish. We’ve seen it so many times before and that’s why he’s on the top of the list for headed goals in the Premier League [since 2012].”
Giroud will be hoping to help Chelsea FC end the season on a high by beating Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley at the end of the month.
The Blues won the Premier League title in style in Conte’s first campaign at the club last term but they have struggled to produce consistent form in the top flight this time around.
