The Reds head into the game fresh from having secured their place in the Champions League final against Real Madrid later this month.
Jurgen Klopp’s men knocked out AS Roma in the semi-finals of the Champions League to set up a mouth-watering showdown against the Spanish giants in Kiev on Saturday 26 May.
The Reds will now turn their attentions towards securing a top-four finish in the Premier League this season.
The Merseyside outfit are currently in third spot in the table and will look to avoid defeat against Chelsea FC to take a big step towards Champions League qualification for next season.
Chelsea FC are currently in fifth place and they still harbour faint hopes of breaking into the top four before the season is out.
However, former Liverpool FC star Lawrenson is backing the two sides to play out a 1-1 draw in west London this weekend.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Lawrenson said: “I don’t think Sunday will be plain sailing for Liverpool because their Champions League semi-final in Rome will have taken a lot out of them.
“It is not so much the physical side of things, more how that game was emotionally draining and they probably will not recover mentally in time.
“The way they played, I was drained just watching it in the Stadio Olimpico.
“So, I am going to go for a draw, which would be enough for Jurgen Klopp’s side, and leave Chelsea trying to salvage something from their season in the FA Cup final.”
Chelsea FC won the Premier League title last season but they have struggled to produce consistent form this term in Antonio Conte’s second campaign in charge.
