Michael Owen is predicting that Liverpool FC will secure the final Champions League spot thanks to a comfortable victory over Brighton at Anfield on Sunday.

The Reds will welcome Chris Hughton’s side looking to end a four-game winless run following a loss to Chelsea FC and stalemates with Everton, Stoke City and West Brom.

Liverpool FC need to avoid a loss to Brighton to secure fourth place ahead of Antonio Conte’s side after Chelsea FC failed to beat Huddersfield in their game in hand mid-week.

Jurgen Klopp’s side will want to avoid further injuries ahead of the Champions League final later this month after Joe Gomez was ruled out of the Kiev showpiece earlier this week.

The Reds were 5-0 winners against Brighton at the Amex Stadium earlier this season and Hughton’s side have one of the worst away records in the Premier League this term.

Former Liverpool FC striker Owen is backing Liverpool FC to ease to a comfortable win over Brighton at Anfield to book their place in next season’s Champions League.

“Liverpool have failed to score in back-to-back Premier League games for the first time under Jurgen Klopp following their 1-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, but I expect normal service to be resumed on Sunday,” Owen told BetVictor.

“The Reds need a point against the Seagulls to be guaranteed their place in the top four and I expect to see the hosts come out with the energy and pace that has been symbolic of their home form this term.

“Brighton confirmed their Premier League status with an excellent win against a subdued Manchester United last Friday and played their part in an entertaining game against the champions at the Etihad midweek.”

The Reds will take on current holders Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Kiev later this month.

Klopp is looking to win his first trophy with the Anfield club at the third attempt.
