Shaka Hislop is backing Liverpool FC to beat Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League on Sunday to secure Champions League football next term.

The Reds are in fourth place in the Premier League table and two points ahead of Chelsea FC ahead of the final game of the season.

Liverpool FC lost 1-0 to their bitter rivals Chelsea FC in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge last weekend following Olivier Giroud’s winner.

The Blues came from behind to rescue a 1-1 draw with Huddersfield Town in the Premier League on Wednesday night to suffer a blow to their top-four hopes.

Chelsea FC will make the trip to Newcastle United in their next Premier League game needing to beat the Magpies to have any hope of securing fourth spot.

Liverpool FC, meanwhile, will host Brighton and Hove Albion at Anfield with a point sufficient to ensure the Reds are playing in next season’s Champions League.

Former West Ham goalkeeper Hislop believes the Reds will find a way to beat Brighton in their final Premier League game.

“I don’t see Liverpool letting it slip. Brighton are secure and can let their hair down,” Hislop told ESPN FC.

“If you told Liverpool at the start of the sesaon that they have to beat Brighton to get top four, they’d take it every day.”

The Reds will take on Champions League holders Real Madrid in the European Cup final in Kiev later this month.

Liverpool FC are looking to finish in the top four in successive seasons under Jurgen Klopp.
