Liverpool FC handed Emre Can injury boost ahead of Real Madrid clash
Liverpool FC are handed a boost after Emre Can was included in their squad for a warm weather training camp in Spain
Emre Can has taken a big step towards a return from injury after the Liverpool FC star was included in Jurgen Klopp’s squad for their warm weather training camp in Spain.
The Germany international has been sidelined with a back injury since March to miss out on Liverpool FC’s impressive win over Manchester City and AS Roma in the Champions League.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain excelled in Can’s absence before the England international suffered a season-ending knee injury during the first leg of their 5-2 win over AS Roma.
Liverpool FC are lightweight in the middle of the park with Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Georginio Wijnaldum their only options in central midfield.
However, Klopp has been handed a boost after Can was included in the Liverpool FC squad for their trip to Marbella for a warm weather training camp ahead of the Champions League final.
A club statement read: “Liverpool midfielder Emre Can has been included in the travelling party for this week’s training camp in Marbella.
“Jürgen Klopp and his squad will fly out this morning for a four-day stay on the Andalusian coast, where preparations for the Champions League final meeting with Real Madrid will begin.
“Can, who has been sidelined by a back injury since March, will join his teammates on the trip in order to continue his rehabilitation.
“The German’s fitness will be monitored and assessed on a day-by-day basis to determine if and when he can rejoin full training with the rest of the squad.”
Can has scored three goals and has made four assists in 26 appearances in the Premier League this season.
The Reds could lose the Germany international in the summer transfer window given Can is set to become a free agent.
The 24-year-old has been linked with a potential move to Serie A giants Juventus.
