Charlie Nicholas raves about Liverpool FC ‘superstar’
The Arsenal legend hails Liverpool FC defender Andy Robertson after his impressive season at Anfield
Charlie Nicholas has hailed Andy Robertson as a Liverpool FC superstar following his incredible debut season at Anfield.
The Reds brought in Scotland international in an £8m deal from relegated Hull City in the 2017 summer transfer window.
Robertson was signed to improve a problem position at Liverpool FC but Alberto Moreno started the campaign ahead of the new signing.
However, the Spanish defender suffered an injury problem in December to hand Robertson the chance to impress in the Reds team.
Robertson has made the position his own with a series of assured performances in both the Premier League and the Champions League.
The Liverpool FC full-back has made four assists in 27 appearances in all competitions in his debut season at Anfield.
Robertson is expected to start against La Liga giants Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Kiev later this month.
Former Arsenal star Nicholas claimed that Robertson is the Premier League’s breakout star this term following his brilliant season.
“When Liverpool signed Robertson they never played him, then he got an odd game here or there – and now suddenly Liverpool fans are singing his name and he’s on the brink of securing a Champions League winner’s medal!” Nicholas told Sky Sports.
“It’s a fantastic story where he’s come from, going from Queen’s Park, Dundee United and then Hull, and he sums up this story of this Liverpool side coming from nowhere to being superstars.”
