Steven Gerrard raves about Liverpool FC star: He’s been immense
The Liverpool FC legend raves about James Milner's performances in the current campaign
Steven Gerrard admits James Milner has been immense for Liverpool FC in their run to the Champions League final.
The former England international is set to sample his first Champions League final in a decorated career so far.
Milner won two Premier League titles and was part of the Manchester City side that beat Gerrard and his Liverpool FC team-mates to the top-flight crown in 2013-14.
Philippe Coutinho’s £142m move to FC Barcelona from Liverpool FC in the January transfer window opened the door for Milner to tie down a regular starting spot in Jurgen Klopp’s team.
Indeed, the 32-year-old has made eight assists in 11 appearances in the Champions League after Liverpool FC booked their place in the showpiece following a 7-6 aggregate win against AS Roma in the last four.
Milner scored an own goal in AS Roma’s 4-2 win over Liverpool FC but Klopp’s side progressed thanks to their 5-2 victory over the Reds at Anfield last month.
Former Liverpool FC captain Gerrard raved about Milner’s performances in recent months.
“I’m happy for them [the Liverpool players],” Gerrard told BT Sport.
“You see the emotion on James Milner’s face and he’s been immense over the last few months. You see the celebrations in the crowd. I know what it means to these people. I’ve lived around them and I know the following this football club has got. It’s a special and unique club.”
Liverpool FC signed Milner in a free transfer from Manchester City in the 2015 summer transfer window under Brendan Rodgers.
The Reds haven’t won the Champions League title since 2005.
