Jurgen Klopp gives latest Liverpool FC injury update on James Milner ahead of Real Madrid final
The Liverpool FC boss provides an update on James Milner ahead of the Champions League showpiece
Jurgen Klopp has revealed that James Milner is set to return to first-team training this weekend ahead of the Champions League final.
The 32-year-old sat out Liverpool FC’s 4-0 win against Brighton and Hove Albion in their final Premier League game on Sunday as a precautionary measure due to a muscle issue.
Milner is part of Klopp’s travelling party that made the trip to Marbella in Spain for a warm weather training camp ahead of the European showpiece later this month.
The former Manchester City star has played a key role in Liverpool FC’s run to the Champions League final after forging an excellent partnership with Jordan Henderson and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Liverpool FC can ill-afford to lose another central midfielder with Oxlade-Chamberlain suffering a serious knee problem and Emre Can still recovering from a troublesome back problem.
Milner has made more assists than any other player in the Champions League this season after creating eight goals in 10 games in Europe’s top tier competition.
The Reds boss confirmed that Milner is set to return to the Liverpool FC squad this weekend to take part in training ahead of their clash against Real Madrid.
“James is in the group and will be back in training later – I think on Saturday or so we will see, or maybe Friday,” Klopp told Liverpool FC’s website.
Liverpool FC were 7-6 aggregate winners against AS Roma in the Champions League last four.
