Emmanuel Petit has admitted that he has a “crush” on Liverpool FC and would love to play under Jurgen Klopp.

The German head coach took over the reins at the Merseyside outfit in October 2015 following Brendan Rodgers’ dismissal.

Klopp has led Liverpool FC to three finals in three seasons, although the Reds lost to Manchester City and Sevilla in the League Cup and Europa League showpieces in 2016.

The five-time European champions will take on current holders Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Kiev later this month.

The Reds are on course to finish in the top four for the second successive season to underline their undoubted progress under Klopp.

Indeed, Premier League champions Manchester City are the only club that have scored more goals in the English top flight this term.

Petit won the Premier League title and the FA Cup with Arsenal before he moved to their London rivals Chelsea FC.

Former France star Petit has spoken of his admiration for the Liverpool FC boss.

“I have a crush on Liverpool FC right now,” Petit is quoted as saying by Paddy Power. “I love Klopp and would love to play under him.”

Liverpool FC were 7-6 winners against Serie A giants AS Roma in the Champions League semi-final.

The Reds haven’t won the Champions League title since 2005 when Liverpool FC beat AC Milan on penalties in Istanbul.
