Paul Merson has challenged Mohamed Salah to score 20 goals for Liverpool FC next season to build upon his impressive debut campaign at Anfield.
The Merseyside outfit signed Salah in a £39m deal from Serie A giants AS Roma in the 2017 summer transfer window.
The Egypt international scored 32 goals in 36 games in the Premier League to finish as the division’s leading goal-scorer ahead of Harry Kane.
The Liverpool FC star won the PFA player of the year award following his incredible season for the Premier League club.
Salah has also netted 10 times in the Champions League final to help Liverpool FC reach the showpiece for the first time since 2007.
Indeed, the Liverpool FC forward netted two goals and made two assists in their 7-6 win against his former club AS Roma in the Champions League semi-finals.
Former Arsenal star Merson believes a return of 20 goals would be remarkable for Salah in the Liverpool FC forward’s second season at Anfield.
“If he gets 20 goals next season, he will have had unbelievable season,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“If he gets 20 goals, you have to stand up and applaud him. Even 15 is great for a winger.”
Liverpool FC will take on current holders Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Kiev next weekend.
The Reds signed Netherlands international Virgil van Dijk in a £75m deal from Southampton in the January transfer window.
