Liverpool FC legend sends warning to Mohamed Salah about next season
Ray Houghton doubts Mohamed Salah can replicate his Liverpool FC form next season
Mohamed Salah will struggle to replicate his current form at Liverpool FC next season, according to Ray Houghton.
The Reds forward has enjoyed an incredible debut season at Anfield following a £39m switch from AS Roma last summer.
Liverpool FC brought in Salah despite his disappointing eight months at their bitter rivals Chelsea FC in 2014.
However, the Egypt international has scored an incredible 31 times in 35 games in the Premier League this season.
Salah was named the PFA player of the year following his outstanding performances in a Liverpool FC shirt.
He has also contributed 10 goals in their run to the Champions League final after Liverpool FC beat his former club AS Roma in the last four.
However, ex-Reds star Houghton has questioned whether Salah will be able to produce the same figures in future seasons.
“It is one season. Let see him in two, three or four. He will never be able to live up to this I imagine,” Houghton told Newstalk.
Liverpool FC will take on La Liga giants Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Kiev in 2018.
Klopp’s side were 5-2 winners against AS Roma in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final before a 4-2 loss to the Italian giants in Rome.
Liverpool FC signed Netherlands international Virgil van Dijk in a £75m deal from Southampton in the January transfer window.
