Robbie Fowler believes Liverpool FC produced their best football of Jurgen Klopp’s reign in last weekend’s 5-2 win against AS Roma in the Champions League semi-final.

The Merseyside outfit eased to a commanding first-leg lead courtesy of goals from Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane.

In truth, Liverpool FC’s lead could have been greater but the Reds were guilty of missing of number of chances in the first half.

AS Roma managed to reduce the deficit thanks to Edin Dzeko’s clinical striker before Diego Perotti scored their second of the night from the penalty spot.

Liverpool FC were 5-1 winners against Premier League champions Manchester City in the last eight after the Reds eased to a 5-0 victory over FC Porto in the round of 16.

Former Reds striker Fowler raved about Liverpool FC’s performance in their Champions League semi-final ahead of the second leg at the Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday night.

“In fact, I’d go as far as to say the 60 minutes or so in the middle of the game were the best I’ve seen for a very, very long time from Liverpool,” Fowler told the Daily Mirror.

“I’m not saying that because I’m biased or a fan, I’m saying it from a football perspective. For 20 minutes, Roma were comfortable. Then something happened, a tweak from Klopp (below) or his coaches to move the forwards just a few yards positionally and suddenly they were rampant.”

Liverpool FC are in third place in the Premier League table and on course to finish in the top four for the second successive season.

The Reds signed Netherlands international Virgil van Dijk in a £75m deal from Southampton in the January transfer window.

Liverpool FC finished in fourth place in the table last term.
