Jurgen Klopp told Liverpool FC have the best number nine in Europe
Former Irish defender Kevin Kilbane heaps praise on Liverpool FC star Roberto Firmino
Liverpool FC star Roberto Firmino is the best number nine in European football, Kevin Kilbane has claimed.
The Brazil international has been in prolific form in the current campaign to help Liverpool FC reach the Champions League semi-finals.
Firmino has scored 15 goals and has made seven assists in 31 games in the Premier League to help the Reds secure a top-four spot.
The Liverpool FC star has netted 10 goals and has created six goals in 11 outings in the Champions League to help the Reds reach the latter stages of the competition.
The Merseyside outfit signed Firmino in a £29m deal from Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim in the 2015 summer transfer window under Klopp’s predecessor Brendan Rodgers.
The 26-year-old committed his long-term future to Liverpool FC on Sunday after Firmino signed a new contract with the 18-time English champions.
Former Irish defender Kilbane delivered a glowing verdict on Firmino following his incredible goal-scoring season, adding that the Brazilian is better than Harry Kane.
“He has been the best number nine in the last three or four months in European football,” Kilbane told Irish radio station Newstalk.
“He has unselfish running, he has work rate, link up play, assists and goals.
“I don’t think there has been a better one. I am including Harry Kane in that.”
Liverpool FC are in third place in the Premier League table and are on course to secure successive top-four finishes.
The Reds signed Netherlands international Virgil van Dijk from Southampton in a world record deal in the January transfer window.
