Roberto Firmino sends message to Liverpool FC supporters about Jurgen Klopp
The Liverpool FC forward opens up about Jurgen Klopp's impact on his career
Roberto Firmino has admitted that Jurgen Klopp has helped to get the best out of the Liverpool FC forward.
The Brazil international moved to Liverpool FC in a £29m deal from Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim under Northern Irishman manager Brendan Rodgers in the 2015 summer transfer window.
Firmino came into his own following Klopp’s appointment in October 2015 and the former Borussia Dortmund head coach used the 26-year-old in a false number nine role in the Liverpool FC team.
The South American forward is enjoying his best season to date after a brilliant return of 26 goals and 13 assists in 47 games in all competitions in the 2017-18 campaign.
According to reports in the British media, Firmino had a €88m contract release clause in his Liverpool FC deal to open up the possibility of a potential summer exit in a cut-price deal.
However, Firmino’s new deal has ensured that the Brazilian forward’s long-term future is at the 18-time English champions.
Speaking to Liverpool FC’s website about Klopp’s impact on his impressive performance level, Firmino said:
“Yes, of course. The manager helped me a lot after he arrived here.
“The manager coming to the football club was not only good for me, but for the whole team. We’ve grown a lot and now we are showing that with the results on the pitch.”
Liverpool FC are in third place in the Premier League table ahead of their trip to Chelsea FC in their next top-flight game.
The Reds will take on AS Roma in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final in the Italia capital on Wednesday night.
