Roberto Firmino: What I can bring to the Liverpool FC team
The Liverpool FC star opens up about his attributes after signing a new long-term deal with the Reds
Roberto Firmino has reiterated that he is the “engine room” in the Liverpool FC team.
The Brazil international has put pen to paper on a long-term deal with the Reds on Sunday afternoon to end speculation surrounding his future.
Firmino was reported to have a clause in his previous contract that would have enabled interested suitors to sign the South American in a €98m deal.
The Liverpool FC forward had been linked with a potential move to Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich and Champions League holders Real Madrid.
However, Firmino has ended doubt surrounding his future by comitting his long-term future to the 18-time English champions.
The South American is enjoying his best season to date following Firmino’s return of 15 goals and seven assists in 35 games in the Premier League.
The 26-year-old has netted 10 times and has created six goals in 11 Champions League outings to help the Reds reach Champions League semi-final.
Speaking to Liverpool FC’s website about his new contract, Firmino said:
“I think he is right when he says that! I am really an engine – I enjoy helping my team and I love to give my best all the time.
“I play every match without leaving anything behind and I hope I can continue moving forward playing in this way to help my team.”
Liverpool FC are in third place in the Premier League table but still aren’t assured of a top-four finish with two games remaining in their domestic campaign.
The Reds signed Netherlands international Virgil van Dijk in a £75m deal from Premier League rivals Southampton in the January transfer window.
