Georginio Wijnaldum has lavished praise on Virgil van Dijk for his impact at Liverpool FC.
The Reds signed the Netherlands international in a £75m deal from Southampton in the January transfer window following months of speculation.
Liverpool FC made Van Dijk the most expensive defender in the world after the Reds missed out on the Dutch centre-half last summer.
Van Dijk has helped Liverpool FC to be more consistency at the back with his leadership and commanding performances.
The 26-year-old has helped to bring out the best in his fellow team-mates, witn Loris Karius, Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson and Dejan Lovren all showing signs of improvement.
Van Dijk helped Liverpool FC to secure a top-four finish in consecutive seasons to ensure their continued participation in the Premier League.
Speaking to ESPN about Liverpool FC centre-half Van Dijk, his international team-mate Wijnaldum said:
“He is quality, but as a person he has the ability to be a leader.
“He speaks a lot, tries to help people and it makes it easier for a team.
“That is also something we needed, a player who would take the leader role in the back line, and I think he has done that.
“But has a lot of qualities and we have shown since he came that we have conceded fewer goals than before. Since he came, we improved a lot.”
Liverpool FC were 4-0 winners against Brighton and Hove Albion in their final Premier League game of the 2017-18 season.
The Reds scored more goals than every other team in the Premier League in the current campaign, apart from Premier League champions Manchester City.
Liverpool FC reached the Champions League final thanks to victories over FC Porto, Manchester City and AS Roma.
