Victor Wanyama responds to reported interest from Liverpool FC, Man United
The Tottenham star plays down talk of a potential move to Liverpool FC and Manchester United
Victor Wanyama has reiterated his continued commitment to Tottenham Hotspur despite reported interest from Liverpool FC and Manchester United.
The Reds are thought to be in the market to sign a holding midfielder in the summer transfer window to further improve Jurgen Klopp’s team.
Germany international Emre Can could leave Liverpool FC in the summer on a free transfer when his contract expires amid interest from Serie A giants Juventus.
While Naby Keita is set to arrive at Anfield this summer, the Guinea international is a box-to-box midfielder rather than a specialist holding midfielder.
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho will also need to improve his midfield options following Michael Carrick’s retirement.
Marouane Fellaini is set to become a free agent in the summer unless the Red Devils can convince the Belgian star to commit to the club.
Wanyama would be a good addition for both Premier League clubs given his excellent performances for the north London side since his move from Southampton in 2016.
“I don’t respond to rumours and all those are rumours to me, I still have a contract with Spurs and that is what I want to see through,” Wanyama told Goal.
“I did not have a good season with the team because of injury and my aim now is to work hard during this break and return for next season even stronger and help them perform even better.
“I am happy at Tottenham and I am committed to the team. I am not aware of anything [regarding a move away] and I am very fine and happy where I am.”
Liverpool FC finished in fourth place in the Premier League table to finish in the Champions League spots for the second successive season.
Manchester United ended up in the runners up spot but lost 1-0 to Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final at Wembley.
