Gary Neville has heaped yet more praise on Roberto Firmino following his brilliant form for Liverpool FC this season.

The Brazilian attacker has been one of the first names on the team sheet at Anfield this term and has been earning plenty of praise for his strong performances for Jurgen Klopp’s men.

The 26-year-old has scored an impressive 27 goals in all competitions for Klopp’s men to help the Reds up into third place in the Premier League table and through to the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Liverpool FC chose to reward Firmino for his fine form by handing the Brazilian a new and improved contract at the weekend.

And Neville believes that Firmino deserves huge amounts of praise for the important role that he plays in the first team at Liverpool FC.

Speaking on Monday Night Football on Sky Sports, Neville said: “I love Sergio Aguero, and he’s been in my team every single year.

“He’s been my favourite striker in the past four or five years but I just felt that Firmino should be in [my team of the year].

“When I watch Liverpool, he’s been the catalyst in term of the pressing, the back-tackling, from the runs he makes in behind, he’s very unselfish.”

Firmino will be expecting to feature for Liverpool FC when they take on AS Roma in the return leg of their Champions League semi-final clash in Rome on Wednesday night.

The Brazil international scored twice in the 5-2 win over the Italian side in the first leg at Anfield last week as the Reds took a big step towards the final.
