Frank Lampard: Why Liverpool FC star is a hero
Frank Lampard hails Mo Salah following the brilliant start he made to his Liverpool FC career
Frank Lampard has hailed Mohamed Salah as a “hero” after the Liverpool FC star’s Champions League heartbreak.
The Egypt international had to be substituted in the first half of the Champions League final showdown clash against Real Madrid on Saturday night after suffering a shoulder injury early on in the game.
The 25-year-old left the field in tears before Liverpool FC ended up slumping to a disappointing 3-1 loss to Real Madrid, as the Spanish side won the Champions League for the third season running.
Salah has been one of European football’s top performing players this season and he scored a staggering 44 goals in all competitions.
He has been in superb form for the Reds since moving to Anfield from AS Roma in the summer transfer window last year.
And Chelsea FC legend Lampard admits that he has been hugely impressed by the way Salah has been adapting to life at Anfield.
Speaking to BT Sport after the Champions League final, Lampard said of Salah: “He’s a hero and a statesman.
“He carries himself brilliantly, he’s humble and he does his stuff on the pitch. He is built for the big occasions.”
Meanwhile, Liverpool FC confirmed their first signing of the summer on Monday evening when they wrapped up a deal to bring Fabinho to the club from Monaco.
The Reds are likely to make a number of other new signings this summer as they bid to bolster their squad ahead of next season.
