Steven Gerrard names Liverpool FC’s key man against Real Madrid
Steven Gerrard is backing Mohamed Salah to be the key man for Liverpool FC against Real Madrid
Steven Gerrard has singled out Mohamed Salah as Liverpool FC’s key man ahead of the Champions League final showdown with Real Madrid this month.
Salah has been one of European football’s top performing players since his move to Anfield from AS Roma in the summer transfer window last year.
The Egypt international has scored a staggering 43 goals in all competitions for Jurgen Klopp’s men to help the Reds up into fourth place in the Premier League table.
Salah’s fine form has also been one of the driving forces behind Liverpool FC’s run to the Champions League final.
Liverpool FC are likely to be the underdogs against Real Madrid in the final in Kiev on 26 May considering that the Spanish side have won the competition for the last two seasons running.
However, Gerrard feels that Liverpool FC do have a great chance of winning the trophy this season with Salah in such good form.
Speaking in an interview with Sport360, Gerrard said: “I think the form they [Liverpool FC] have been in, how they’ve performed in the last two games against Roma, especially with Mohamed Salah…
“I think we go in with every confidence and belief that we can get the job done.”
Salah and his Liverpool FC team-mates will first be hoping to help the Reds book their place in the top four by avoiding defeat against Brighton on Sunday afternoon at Anfield.
The Reds are aiming to book their spot in the Champions League for next season.
