Jamie Carragher names Liverpool FC’s most important player
Jamie Carragher heaps praise on Roberto Firmino following his fine form for Liverpool FC this season
Jamie Carragher has claimed that Roberto Firmino is arguably Liverpool FC’s most important player this season.
Mohamed Salah has been stealing all of the headlines this season thanks to his incredible form since his switch from AS Roma last summer.
Salah was voted as the PFA player of the year last month after his brilliant debut campaign at Anfield exceeded all expectations.
However, Firmino has also been in top form for Jurgen Klopp’s men, netting more than 25 goals in all competitions for the Merseyside outfit.
And former Liverpool FC star Carragher has admitted that he rates Firmino as possibly the Reds’ most important player, ahead of Salah.
Speaking in an interview with Goal, ex-England and Liverpool FC star Carragher said: “If you’ve got an attacking player getting 25 goals, and doing everything Firmino does besides, then you’ve got a great player.
“I think he’s arguably Klopp’s most important player, for how we press, what we do. He’s just brilliant.”
Firmino was rewarded for his fine form this season by being handed a new long-term contract by Liverpool FC over the weekend.
Liverpool FC are currently preparing for their crunch trip to fifth placed Chelsea FC in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
The Reds are currently in third place in the Premier League table as they bid to try and book their place in the group stage of next season’s Champions League via a top-four finish.
