Jurgen Klopp makes admission to Liverpool FC fans about Emre Can
Jurgen Klopp delivers the latest update on Emre Can's contract and injury situation at Liverpool FC
Jurgen Klopp has revealed that there are no new updates about Emre Can’s contract situation at Liverpool FC.
The Germany international is widely expected to leave the Anfield club in the summer as he approaches the end of his current contract.
The 24-year-old has not yet agreed a new contract with the Reds, meaning that he could leave the club on a free transfer at the end of the season.
Can is also currently sidelined with a back injury and he is facing a race against time to prove his fitness for the Champions League final showdown against Real Madrid at the end of the month.
And Klopp has confirmed that there are no updates about either situation ahead of Liverpool FC’s clash with Brighton at Anfield on Sunday.
Speaking at a news conference at Melwood on Friday, Klopp said: “[There is] nothing new on both parts – still treatment and rehab.
“If we would have agreed anything, you would have known that. It’s like it was before.”
Liverpool FC know that they will secure a top-four finish in the Premier League as long as they avoid defeat against Brighton at Anfield this weekend.
The Reds would drop out of the top four if they were beaten by Brighton and Chelsea FC won at Newcastle on the final day of the Premier League season.
