And Liverpool FC legend Gerrard believes that the likes of Robertson and Henderson deserve praise for their performances against Real Madrid, despite the disappointment of the result.
Speaking to BT Sport, Gerrard said: “It was tough to watch because of the mistakes but I liked a lot about Liverpool’s performance. It was very difficult to criticise the performance.
“I thought Andy Robertson was brilliant and Jordan Henderson played well. Liverpool defended well.
“Everything just points towards the obvious mistakes but it’s a tough one. As a fan and an ex-player, it’s very tough.”
Liverpool FC confirmed their first signing of the summer on Sunday evening when they announced that they had agreed a deal with Monaco to sign Fabinho.
The Brazilian midfielder will officially become a Liverpool FC player on 1 July.
The Reds are likely to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as they look to assemble a squad capable of winning the title next term.
