Steven Gerrard sends Liverpool FC message to Mo Salah after Real Madrid loss
Steven Gerrard admits his disappointment for the way Mo Salah's season ended for Liverpool FC
Steven Gerrard has admitted his disappointment at the way Mohamed Salah’s season ended due to injury in the Champions League final.
The Egypt international had to be substituted in the first half of Liverpool FC’s 3-1 loss to Real Madrid in Kiev on Saturday night on what turned out to be a night to forget for the Reds.
Loris Karius was at fault for two of Real Madrid’s goals as the shoulder injury sustained by Salah during a challenge with Sergio Ramos cast doubt over his World Cup hopes.
It remains to be seen whether Salah will be fit to feature for Egypt when the World Cup gets under way in Russia next month.
And Liverpool FC legend Gerrard has admitted his disappointment at the way Salah’s fortunes unfolded during the Champions League final.
Speaking to BT Sport after the game, Gerrard said: “He’s very likeable. You don’t just watch the player on the pitch, you find out what he’s like as a guy.
“He’s humble and is playing with a smile on his face.
“On a stage like that, for it to go wrong for him due to injury… it’s just so sad for him and everyone connected to Liverpool.”
Liverpool FC confirmed their first signing of the summer on Monday when they announced a deal to bring Fabinho to Anfield from Monaco.
The Reds finished in fourth place in the Premier League last season but are still on the lookout for their first trophy since Jurgen Klopp’s appointment back in October 2015.
