Liverpool FC are leading the race to sign Diogo Leite from FC Porto this summer, according to reports in the British media.

The Guardian is reporting that the teenage defender is attracting strong interest from Premier League clubs, including both Arsenal and Manchester City.

However, the same story says that Liverpool FC are the side showing the most interest in the 19-year-old centre-half as Jurgen Klopp looks to bolster his squad ahead of next season.

There have been reports that Arsenal are prepared to meet the defender’s €15m release clause, but the same story says that Anfield is currently the teenager’s “likeliest” destination.

Should Liverpool FC conclude a deal to sign Leite this summer, the Reds plan to send him out on loan next season so he can continue to get some regular first-team playing time.

Liverpool FC are likely to be linked with a host of players in the coming weeks and months as the Reds look to build a squad capable of winning the Premier League title next season.

The Reds are aiming to end the season with a trophy when they take on Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Kiev at the end of the month.
